Water Supply Management
- As the world population grows, demands for water grow. However, lack of new dam construction and sedimentation of existing reservoirs reduces the future availability of water.
- E&H has developed two technologies for water supply management:
- The Reliability Based Water Resources Management method provides water managers with simple base yield versus reliability graphs to communicate policy and management decisions to politicians and the public. The method allows assessment of the impact of optional drought management strategies in multi-user environments.
- REServoir CONservation (RESCON) is an approach to reservoir sediment management developed for the World Bank by E&H and the University of Connecticut. The approach considers intergenerational equity in dam construction, management, and de-commissioning to establish the most economical method of managing reservoirs in a sustainable manner.
